I read the fine print of the promotion and it states that there can only be one license per email - i did upgrade 2 different PCs and paid for 2 Windows 8 Pro licenses but can only get one free media center license?
I have 2 more laptops and a desktop to upgrade at home and want to take advantage of the windows media center pack promotion. This thread is locked. Unless I am mistaken and you can do a clean install with the pro pack but this seems unlikely from what I have read?? Larry, when you say image you mean just but the pro pack and apply it, and then use Win backup or something like Macrium Reflect to take an image for retire purposes?
Seems like a possibility! OEM licenses are not covered for business use as far as I know , so your best option would be to buy pro licenses with physical media, and should you need to rebuild the device, use the media. How many of them are there? If it's only a few you could just create an image of each one to USB or external HD or something and have the client store the media.
If you need to start over you can just restore from the image of that PC. Just be careful to track which image file goes with which PC. What are the machines intended to be used for They can join a domain I said as far as I know, and I am happy to be corrected and learn , licensing is not the easiest thing to understand.
Perhaps it is that you cant upgrade an OEM to another type of license I am thinking of - who knows. I'm still stuck on the "my client accidentally bought a far more expensive OS without my knowledge" Typically clients wouldn't opt to spend more money, nor would they say "hey Kelly: Larry is right.
The issue is that the client runs a server R2 active directory. They bought some workstation machines which they thought would be OK to use without my knowledge I'm a consultant that sometimes doesn't get consulted. They are Win 8 and cannot be joined to the domain, so I'm trying to find the best way too get them over to 8.
